His maternal brother, Mill Brae Prime Time 0110, was the 2nd high-valued bull in our 2001 sale selling to Marvin Kroupa, Kimball, SD, for $4,000. His dam ranks in the top 2% among current dams for weaning weight, the top 10% for milk, and the top 2% for yearling weight EPDs. Mill Brae Plowman 1124 ranks in the top 1% among non-parent bulls and cows for weaning weight and yearling weight and the top 15% for %IMF EPDs.
Maternal grandam, MB Blackcap Juice 5063, records 4 calves at 104 WR and 4 at 101 YR. Maternal great grandam, LB 8E8 Blackcap 148, was a productive Pathfinder Dam. LB Blackcap EXT 345, a Mill Brae-bred female and maternal sister to MB Blackcap Juice 5063, is one of the breed's highest growth females selling to Powers Angus of Virginia as the $52,000 top-selling female in the 2000 Locust Level/Gilreath Sale. Her daughter, LLF GA Blackcap 6807 895, was the $25,000 top-selling heifer in that sale to Sugar Loaf Farms of Virginia and a pregnancy sold for $5,000 to Daltons on the Sycamore of Virginia with frozen embryos from her selling for $1,150 each to B&S Angus of North Carolina. A son, LLF Gilreath Rock, is the $6,500 Accelerated Genetics sire whose flush sister LLF Gilreath 345 BN 677, sold for $10,750 in the 1998 Locust Level/Gilreath Sale to Daltons on the Sycamore with other maternal siblings that include the Alta Genetics sire LLF Gilreath Trendsetter and the Power Angus Farm herd sire, LLF GA No Fear.
His sire, Plowman 1627 of Mill Brae SAR, was the high-valued bull in our 1995 sale with 2/3 interest selling for $8,000 to Simpson Angus Ranch, Eufala, OK. Plowman is one of the most popular high-growth sires in the ABS line-up who ranks in the top 1% for weaning weight, the top 1% for yearling weight, and offers the #1 %IMF in the breed among bulls with a YW EPD greater than +100. This powerful sire recorded a 205-day weight of 770 lbs. and an individual weaning ratio of 115 in the Mill Brae performance program where he gained 4.37 lbs. a day as the top-gaining bull of his contemporary group with a gain ratio of 118. Maternal sisters to Plowman have been highly sought after individuals by registered breeders with MB Joanie EXT 3605 selling for $40,000 in the to Smith Flooring of Missouri and MB Joanie EXT 7032 topping our 2000 Female sale at $14,500 to McWilliams Ranches, Oklahoma. Other maternal sisters were also high sellers in our 2000 Female sale with Mill Brae EXT Joanie 674 purchased by Fairfield Farms of Lakeview, CT, for $7,500 and Mill Brae EXT Joanie 723 selling to Larson Angus Ranch of Sharon Springs, KS, for $4,300.
Both Plowman’s dam and grandam now reside in the Whitestone Farms embryo donor program. His daughters have topped our sales and others as well with Sherrod Blackcap 0007 and Sherrod Blackcap 0096 selling as the top open heifers at the Sherrod Farms dispersal for $11,000 and $10,500 respectively. Gaining 4.19 lbs. per day on test.
